Cut Throught is a site-specific intervention in the landscape and architecture through minimal light and shape. It consists of a one-dimensional screen floating over the venue. Playing with scale and proportion literally cutting through the castle and contrasts with the baroque envelope, the pure shape with the raw light enhanced the architecture of the castle.
Stretching over 20 meters, the screen plays moving images and casts its light and shadows onto the festival goers. Flying over the room, the line becomes space and the light becomes matter filling up the whole space.
The screen displays rather minimalistic yet impactful animations, playing on movements, swiftness, drama and decay with the use of rich hues.
The installation was created as a central part of the festival’s overall scenography and visual identity. It was visible from multiple outdoor locations including the entrance, utilities area, stage, and campsite, providing varying perspectives depending on the viewer’s position.
