Lichtwolke is an interactive performance experimenting with the light installation of the Erlebnisportal in Weimar (see project page) which can be compared to a low-resolution three-dimensional screen, dissolved into particles, able to display moving shapes in space. The performance aim to connect the light cloud with a performer and their movements
A body-tracking camera films the performer and tracks the following parameters in particular: head height, body location in the room, arms position and general intensity movement. The previously developed TouchDesigner program lets these parameters control the animation in the 3D screen that is the Light Cloud.
The movement series is a free improvisation based on the tracked elements, going crescendo over the different patterns and variations to create an abstract narrative where the body merges with its environment.
