Plantes Musicales is an interactive audio-visual installation that explores the relationship between technology, nature, and playfulness. The exhibit invites visitors to engage with the artwork, playing music with plants and creating a multisensory immersive experience.
In this exhibit, three plants have been transformed into musical instruments, each with its its own distinct sound and light animation that is triggered when touched. As the visitors play they will see a corresponding light animation that enhances the overall sensory experience. The installation encourages visitors to interact with each other and coordinate their play, creating an improvised musical performance.
The plants are equipped with capacity sensors that send a wireless signal to TouchDesigner, which in turn sends data to the self-built LED fixtures and to Ableton. This combination allows a seamless experience of the artwork as a whole for the visitor.
In addition to its playfulness, Plantes Musicales focuses on participation and community-building. As visitors play the plants together and create music, they naturally form a connection and bond with each other. Plantes Musicales is hence a playful and immersive installation that fosters a sense of community and connection.
